Astra Suites wasn’t too far out of reach, as long as we opted for the studio suite room. Wish we could have splurged for the honeymoon jacuzzi suite, but then scuba diving, ATVing, and volcano-hiking may not have happened..So why am I downright urging you to stay there as well? Let me explain:
1) Typical Santorini-styled rooms
George Karayiannis, the owner, and all the other staff were amazing. They helped plan all of our activities, including scuba diving, volcano and hot springs tour, and even arranged for our ATVs. Just what we wanted/needed on our honeymoon. Someone else to do all the work :p Basically, they were really helpful with anything we needed, providing us with great maps of the island and dinner recommendations too.
3) An unbeatable Breakfast
Every morning they served us breakfast on our own private balcony. You fill out your order the night before, and you could get as much as you wanted! The food was of good quality and quantity. The chocolate drink was like no other- I had it every morning! It was obvious the orange juice was freshly squeezed, the bread was still warm, and the drinks were just made. Eating on the balcony with such an incredible view is just something that has to be done to be truly appreciated.
4) Stunning Sunset Views
Every room has an exceptional view of the sunset. With the hotel perched right on the cliffs of Imerovigli, it’s impossible for a less than stunning view every hour of every day. There are no bad rooms here. Every room is top notch. I’d say we had a better view from our balcony sipping wine and eating cheese than anyone in Oia (where it is too crowded and touristy for my liking).
5) A perfect Location
The location, Imerovigli, is great, midway between Oia and Thira. It is for some reason a bit less inhabited by tourists, which make this location on the quiet side. Absolutely perfect for us lovebirds on our honeymoon (insert gag sound here). And the sunsets are even better in Imerovigli (in my opinion).
6) The infinity pool
Oh the infinity pool. Looking at the pictures initially drew me to this hotel. There is no way to describe the feeling of being in the hot Santorini sun, drink in hand, and looking out far onto the bluest waters. No words.
7) The “Extras”
From the superb breakfasts served on our balcony every morning, to the sunset cocktails pool side, and the starry alfresco dinners served late into the night, talk about romantic! How could you possibly go wrong here?
