5 Places I’ve Never Been (And Why I Want To Go)

SHARE

It’s true.  I want to see the world.  I want to throw all my belongings in a bag and just go.  I want to purchase a one-way ticket to somewhere far away and have no plans once I arrive.

I wake up in the morning thinking about packing a suitcase.  I am constantly day dreaming of far away lands at work.  I go to bed with compete and utter wanderlust.

I have wanderlust.  And a lot of it.  The thought of traveling to far away lands encompasses most of my thoughts these days.

While I have been to some pretty cool places all by the age of 25 (favorites being Israel, Greece, Paris, St. Lucia, and Rome), there is still so much I’m so eager to see.

Right now, I really want to get to:

1. South Africa

WHY >> This seems to be a popular destination right now.  My friends and family are going on their honeymoons here, and to be quite frank, their photos look amazing.  I can’t wait to go on a safari and see the big 5 and little 5.  While I like the zoo just as much as any other animal lover, it would be surreal to see these animals in their natural habitats.  Also, some of the animals native to South Africa are unfortunately going extinct, and are already endangered (the black rhino, wild dog, antelope, African penguin).  Need to get here sooner than later.  Cage diving with great whites is definitely on the list as well.  And boulders beach to see the cute little penguins!

2. Costa Rica

WHY >> Costa Rica sounds like the adventurers dream. With gorgeous hikes, Manuel Antonio National Park with unspoilt rainforests and hidden beaches to be enjoyed, flying across ziplines above the treetops in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, and jungle waterfalls to be climbed, I would never be bored.  Plus, the sloths are pretty cute too!

3. Tahiti/Bora Bora/Moorea

WHY >> Imagine waking up in your own private over-water-bungalow, with direct access to crystal clear turquoise water five steps away from your king size bed.  Sounds pretty perfect, right?  We all need some luxury in our life.  With sunshine year round and average temperatures of 75+, the French Polynesia is hard to beat.  I can imagine spending a week in nothing but my bikini, sharing the waters with all the beautiful sea creatures.  I want to get completely pampered, take a helicopter ride over the island, go on a 4×4 adventure, and possibly even give diving another shot!

4. Turkey

WHY >> Turkey has climbed up on my travel wish list pretty fast. I had never even considered stepping into the country before, until yup, you guessed it, I started reading some pretty awesome travel blogs. In Istanbul, I am dying to see the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, The Blue Mosque and Hippodrome. I want to get lost in the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar, and take a boat trip on the Bosphorus. And then the fun starts in Cappadocia, where I would absolutely love to take a hot air balloon ride in Gerome and explore the open-air museum. Pammukale sounds pretty cool too, with its thermal turquoise pools and calcium deposits. Spending a few nights relaxing in Bodrum would complete my trip. Fingers crossed I can squeeze all this in in just over 2 weeks (all the vacation time my husband gets!)

5. Iceland

WHY >> Although quite a chilly country, I’ve always wanted to head on over to Iceland.  I actually really want to chill out in Antarctica, but since that’s not possible right now, Iceland it is.  Baby steps, people, baby steps.  I want to hike up a glacier, go dog sledding, ride icelandic horses around the country side, go snow-mobiling, and take a dip in the blue lagoon.  Snorkeling between the tectonic plates in Silfra, albeit freezing, is pretty high up there too.  Watch out for some hilarious photos of myself in all that necessary gear.  And I’m giving you the complete opportunity to laugh.  Just no judging :) And I really want to see the puffins!
